General Resources

Here's an annotated list of study-related resources and tools that might be useful:

  • BibleGateway.com - a good resource with multiple translations/versions of the Bible in multiple languages. Also has some commentaries available.
  • Net Bible - a relatively new translation compiled primarily by the scholars at Dallas Theological Seminary. This translation is completely free to download/copy/distribute without royalties of any kind.
  • Studylight.org - more in-depth study materials, including:
  • BlueLetter Bible - additional study resources. Some of these are more audiovisual (e.g., maps, charts, audio recordings, etc.)

Here are the handouts from the book of Romans. All the handouts that exist have been posted. There were some of the earlier chapters that did not have handouts.

Sermon on the Mount

The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12) - 7/05/2006 - The point of this study was that the beatitudes describe spiritual, inward attitudes that we should have as followers of Christ. This teaching of Jesus is in marked contrast to the practice of the Pharisees, who were focused on external observances of religion as a path to God. In addition to describing the inward attitudes of a Christian, the beatitudes make promises about how God is there for us, and give some indications about how our inward attitudes should manifest themselves in our outward lives. Handouts for this study:

  • Handout with NIV translation of the passage and space for notes (zipped Word Doc).
  • Handout with NIV translation of the passage and verse-by-verse notes from various commentaries (zipped Word Doc).
