It was rainy and grey all day. Sometimes I go for walks with my coworkers during lunch. Today my coworker and I walked laps in the hallways on our floor. For awhile we talked about how difficult it seems to be to get regular exercise and that this was at least one little thing we could do. We work in a square building that has an inner courtyard. So we were walking around in a circle and could look out the floor-length windows onto the courtyard. In good weather and the summer we walk outside -- running errands or just to get a change of scenery. But even that sometimes seems uninteresting.
In the past few years different coworkers have had various creative ideas for getting exercise during lunch. One summer a coworker suggested a "perfect chocolate cookie" hunt. The idea was that she over the course of the summer she would have walked all over the downtown, trying each shop in search of the best cookie. Perhaps it would have been a rather counter-productive search. But soon after coming up with the idea she took a job elsewhere. So we never did find the perfect cookie!
Most recently, two of our managers have taken up exercising in one of the offices. We don't have showers, but they bring separate workout clothes, hole up in one of their offices for about a half an hour, and follow some sort of exercise tape -- maybe "jazzercize." However, at an office party the joke was that our top boss had begun to complain of strange vibrations and plaster falling off his office ceiling. Concerned that there was some structural problem with the building, or unusual earth movements, his investigations found that the vibrations and plaster problems were just due to the jazzercize upstairs. I don't think the joke was true, but knowing the people involved makes the joke seem at least somewhat plausible!

Hello, world! This is my very first blog. I hope you are enjoying your life. Unlike husband-Justin I have not thought of a title or theme for my blog, at least not yet. So I can't tell you what to expect from this blog, but I will tell you a bit about myself.
I am enjoying being an aunt for the first time. I have been happily married for about a year-and-a-half now. I enjoy learning and growing in my understanding of life and relationships with a small group of friends with whom we study the Bible and pray. I will be taking my last accounting course at the University of Pittsburgh this spring, and I work full-time as an accountant for the local County government. In my free time I like to take walks, watch tv, or play games with my husband, and I like to work on little projects involving pictures or stitching... |
